Live Brief 01 - Idea's Tap - FInal Outcome/s

Live Brief 01 - Idea's Tap - FInal Outcome/s

I decided to take 'Boredom' two different ways.

1. When I am bored I Doodle

2. What I think people look like when they are bored.

1. Doodles

2. What I think people look like:

Live Brief 01 - Idea's Tap - FInal Outcome/s

I feel that the brief that reflects boredom best is probably the 'doodle' design. I feel it will work well to suit the brief and highlight creative aspect of illustration.

Getting in Contact - For Content

Getting in contact to create the main content for my magazine.

I have chosen people from different disciplines that creative people find interesting and that branch across a number of cross-programmes / disciplines.

I decide to get in contact via twitter and email and carry out the interviews (general, nice chats) in person. (or those who are reachable)

I want the interview to get across enthusiasm and a lot of passion, with selected images and creative paths to follow up on.

I carried out the contact in a informal way - as this is the way i'd like to approach the whole processes as it allows for more passion to come across which turns into inspiration.

Studioooo Location for Event Meeting

Rationale:

A self initiated project, which showcases Leeds talent whilst promoting us as a ‘studioooo’ as well as individuals.
Our aim is to invite designers, illustrators and creative ‘s alike to submit work within a set theme to insure continuity.

Preparation is key to running a successful event; We will need to plan and organise the event to a high standard to ensure that ‘studioooo’ is presented in the best possible light.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We highlighted the 'issue' of an event location.

We all decided that we would like the event to place in a Leeds as a local participation.

Here was the selection (we all picked 01+ places that we think would be applicable:

Mexico
Enjoy
Music Hub
East Street - Art
Village Book Store
&Model Gallery

We narrowed down the facilities:

Enjoy

Music Hub

&Model Gallery

NJOY is an art collective run by Kayleigh Morris and Rian Treanor, the group came together through a series of experimental art events that took place in Leeds, UK, throughout 2008 and 2009. They currently occupy their artist funded / artist lead studio and event space:
ENJOY ART SPACE, Unit 22, Mabgate, Leeds, LS9 7DZ, UK
Their focus is to create a situation for artistic engagement, where groups of creative people can get together in a truly experimental and informal environment. The idea of the project is that guest artists will come and give performances and live art. Creative people whatever their orientation are invited to come along with suggestions and contributions of all kinds.

&Model Gallery

&model is a gallery space in central Leeds. Occupying all three floors of a 19th century building on East Parade, it shows contemporary visual art and other work that crosses the genres of art and design. It brings a diverse range of international artists to Leeds whilst also showcasing some of the city’s best young talent. Guest curators will work with &model’s co-directors, Chris Bloor, James Chinneck and Derek Horton.

We decided to email Enjoy to see if they could let us view the space.

Visual Illustrations

Visual Illustration

I took inspiration from the research undertaken to produce some hand-rendered visuals. The products range from berries to avocado and fit with my chosen condiments. The visuals present a 'home made' approach as the idea of hand rendered illustration allows this.

Using a fine liner can create finder detail within certain sections of the illustration. Deciding to focus the illustrations to black and white for the time being allows room for colour to be digitally enhanced to take the illustrations to a more professional level.

The designs need more work. The use of fine lines and dots to add shape and depth creates a 'traditional' form the the illustrations.

However revisiting the original brief aim - Modeninsig the designs may need to take place as it seems to take on a traditional 'homemade' form.

Design Experiment / Concept One - Cinema Experience

Concept One - Film 2013

Creating Film 2013 (I do not own any right to the images used.)

Concept One
I wanted to create a new application that allows you to see new and upcomming films in an easy way. The theme colour will vary each week when the website will show new and exciting film trailers for upcomming films. This saves browsing through various channels to find new releases. This will link to the cinema experience that I can visually create to correspond with this idea.
I have mocked up some movie posters and app designs to put this initial idea forward.
I wanted to create a new application that allows you to see new and upcomming films in an easy way. The theme colour will vary each week when the website will show new and exciting film trailers for upcomming films. This saves browsing through various channels to find new releases.

Creating a strong visual identity. The 'brand identity' is focused around the bold, imapctful design above. The use of having such a bright aesthetic grabs attention.

I have translated the colour of this seasons 'blue' - other seasons colour themes will be on the websoite but this is how you can see clearly the trailers you have and haven't seen. Each film poster will be re-designed with changes in layout and colour to make the 'experience' more unique to remember who are viewing the website.

Translating the posters onto an application / iPad : This will show before the actual trailer is played.

The trailer will then appear - The colour background will work for each season / week and will differ so it is easy to distinguish.

Working with Web:

The designs have to correlate to web for this unique experience as it is about interacting with trailers as party of pre-excitment for the film. Film 2013 will give you access to the latest film trailers so you can watch them (without getting confused on which is the newest trailers / one's that you have already seen) and then you can confirm wether you would like to see the film at the cinema.

This selective and interactive way of picking a film works with the website and idea to allow you to selected and pre-plan. Which could create a whole new experience within cinema viewing.

The basic mock up of the website home-page:

When you have watched your trailers and selected your films you will receievce a banner that informs you of relase dates closest to film reaslse / first viewings - then you can pick seats etc. This allows you to straight away pre-book the film. With a simple yet effective experience.

This is just a mock up of the designs - I decided that the designs should be effective in an upmarket concept - however these mocks up's portray a much more mass market presence. Although the concept allows the product to be more upmarket and elected for members and specific film viewing the colour scheme and films chosen of the designs needs work.
