Branding a Cinema

These are two different but really great examples of brnaindng

This design really works on the produts: creating a broad range of products that fit with the brand and its visual aesthetic. I like the use of tckste and very bright green spot cooer to make the design have that extra touch. 









This brief is slightly different and focuses on the development and concept of a logo. I like how detailed it approaches the design and you can clearly see all stages of the design processes. 





I think adding in colour is great - i think id like to have a few colours within my design - it would be effective to use this as i haven't used anything like that in my design work beofe. 




i think that both these brands have really focused on the concept of the brief. They both portay a cinema in two very different ways which is effective to see competition. 

Logo designs



I want to us the '/' shape in the title watch / film as a visual identity for the logo and brand. i think this is effective and allows a visual array of colour to work with the logo and it can be used to sepeate images and combine them. Using colour swill bring out the designs and work well.

Laura's Work and Style Research

Laura Dockrill adopts a D.I.Y hand drawn style to publish her poems, stories and illustrations.

The main purpose of these publications are for coffee table books, casual flicking that allows for a very light hearted and casual approach. We will aim to accomotdat these trough out book to portray our main ideas and illusations. 





Laura doesn't use any digital type which gives her work a more personal and warm quality, this is something that we will adopt for our own book, this will also allow us to feature more material in a shorter space of time, to create a more substantial finished product.




Laura uses manual techniques and effects on her website as well to create a personal and handcrafted feeling.



The book that we will design will feature hand drawing illustration excessively, if not exclusively. 

Final Concept

The final concept :

The final concept is quite conceptual and hard to mock up but i think it's creative and works for the brief. I want to create a moving cinema. I want to submerge the audience in film to create a new experience therefore anything tehauidence does there will be film doing the same thing. eg. if there are people in the bathroom therew il be a screen form a movie with people in the bathroom. This means that whoever the audience is doing there is a film doing the sma ething - i think this would be effective as the audience can feel part of film, submerging them in a new experience.

Concepts + Brainstorms

Creating the concept and creating brief to become an experience… 

I brianstaormed ideas quite a lot to try and get a clear idea that i felt was approapte to use. 





Trying to create a logo design



I really do not like the 'm' logo i have been experimenting with. The design needs to look professional and quite market and i think this design may take away from 

Cinema Interior layout


I came up some varied ideas but they all steamed around motion and movement. This was to highlight the link between movement and film. I thought this was an effective concept to build upon from this stage. 



Research branding - Film and Cinema

I went to the library and rented out some books that allowed me to view the branding of film and media culture. I thought this would be efftive to see as it could influence my pratcie. 




I like the idea of using full screen images with overlays of type - i think it works well to combine content and visual aesthetic and looks eye-catching






I wanted to focus on branding within the media. It was useful to research this as i could see what colours, shape. images layouts etc influenced a brand



I could also look at tone of voice and brand concepts. It would allow for me to create designs that could make me re-thin conventional ways to ortaty my ideas. 







Looking at he research i gathered, it all resulted in bright bold branding, This has had heavy influence over my idea and i think it time to start scribbling down a few ideas based on my findings.
