BIG Change

After re-visting the magazine again I felt that the design could be improved once again….

The colour theme started to over-run the design. One dominate colour was preventing the magazine from looking refined and made the magazine busy.

I decide that by choosing a colour to contrast with the bright yellow could merge the magazine pages together and could work to not be as harsh and bold. 

Using black and grey colour scheme to contrast with the yellow allows the design to become more focused. I decide to add in some of the grid lines to offer some insight into how a magazine is laid out. I thought this could offer some insight and maybe some form of interest. 

I have also sperated the contents page and front page. This is because the design looked busy running through to two pages. Having some negative space and type separates the design. 

I have continued the black and yellow theme throughout but very sutle so that the information stays the main point.

I have also worked with the layout once more. I wanted to include simple pages and more informed pages. With photography I thought it would  work well to have a busier page and allow the photographs to speak for themselves.

Still inkeepibg with the interested section I have included some more grid lines. This time around type. I thought this could work, but it may look to busy and the lines may be to thick, so i could lower the weight.

Overall I feel that this layout works better to represent all the interviews and the layout style works quite well as the images look better over a landscape perspective. 

I think that this design works to portray a clear and visually pleasing aesthetic, but does need to work across all the pages. 

Decisions

We thought it would be very effective to document the 4 weeks in the exhibition. This was so we could see our movements ideas and work progressing and we thought it would be an interesting piece to show ta the end of the exhbiion on the closing night, 




Research of exhibitions at universities 

Sport Website and Layout Research

I have started to research into sports webistes. I think it will be effective part of my design to focus on the layout.

I really like the layout of the bbbc sports website. It uses simple colour, layout and image to clearly portray relevant information. The design is created with concept driven layout and is very viably peolase and easy to navigate. 

Record Sleeve Cover Art Research

I wanted to have a look at some classic and modern record sleeve art. I thought this would be a great way to see how each genre is reflected and how pattern and shape work. 

I wanted to look at the link between image manipulation, colour and pattern  to ee who it could inform my design. 

I like how simple this is with the negative background. It also makes the image pop as it is a 3d design.

The use of illustration within these design brings life and emotion to the design, The colours used reflect the content - I think this ould be effective as I am selecting specific lines of the lyrics 

Psychedelic Record sleeve seem to work with image manipulation which I am very interested in. 

Working with specific affects really allows the image to transform into somethings else and adds sense of individuality. 

Final Vinyl and Exhibition

Final Vinyl:

I chose to place the design upside down. this was done on purpose and suited the content as it was meant to look like a mistake. I think this links with the ocnept well. 

The Final Exhibition

This worked with the vinyl and showcased designers work from a 4 week period. greg ball flamed the xhbition as work developed on his go pro and on the final night of the event it was showcased so we could see a time lapse of the period.

overall i think that h eporcesse went well and we as a class created some postie work within the time period.

I think the final outcome is effective. The type used really works to represent a positive vibe. the vinyl is on white which adds alight positive approach as it will be placed on the window. Th type has been slightly kerned to created a fuller and more central design.

I think it looks effective and works well as a medium to place in the studio.
